Reflection
On Sunday, September 30, I did literacy lesson which was about letter M and how to start reading from left to right, top to bottom. I did it in Al Zaydeya school in KG1 section 2. The learning outcome were letter F + KLCP3: Use directionality left to right, top to bottom when engaged in reading and writing or play, approaches to Learning were, social: roles and responsibilities, emotional: self-image and awareness, emotional: expressing and managing self. My goal is Students understand my instructions to complete the centers independently, I achieved that by using simple language and model the activities. I saw the students completed the assigned task and show me their work while I’m in focus group. So, in that way I know that I achieved my goal. I repeat my goals, so I want to make sure I’m in the right way, also to feel confident.
I will talk about one of approaches to Learning which is expressing and managing self. Students can develop their leaning and their emotional and cognitive skills by express their feeling while working as well as managing. For example, most learning outcomes relate to the environment, otherwise the students will give the teacher their attention then, they will start giving her answers, so Teacher uses strategies to capture students’ attention and connect them to the content or activity. For instance, a teacher may use think-pair- share to increase the level of participation in response to a question. Furthermore, the students will be confidents and they will build positive behavior and for turn and talk strategy their social emotional will develop. Erik Erikson belief if we build a trust and security and a basic optimism. It will effect on his/her life, because if children grow with trust and security and loved, they will be confident, and they will depend on their-self, as well as they will develop on learning. for example, they will communicate with others so social and cognitive skills will develop by communicating and observing. (nor, n.d)
I communicate my goals and objectives in lesson opening and closing. I start my lesson by review last letter we took, then I told them we have a new letter who will tell me? And I remind them that we finish with the letter s and m. One of the students said letter f, I think she’s in high level of learning I didn’t finish with diagnostic assessment yet. I start to give her a positive comment and give her sticker, so I get students attention and they might remind the letter of the week. After that we sing song of sounds and we read sight words and I told they students look at Ms. Alanood how I read, I start reading from left to right and point word by word, and from top to bottom.
In the class we have 7 centers math, art, science, computer, reading, writing, and focus. I will talk about focus group and art. In focus group we read the sentences and point them together, then each student read with me a sentence. After that when I make sure the students understand me, we had an activity that searching for letter F, if the students find it he/she can point on it.

For art center the students create fish by plastic plate and glue things on it, but first they have to draw it. This activity relates to my action research which is visual art. It important for students because they learn the differences among colors. and they use their cognitive skills and that helps in developing them. They promote their imaginative ideas of how to shape the eyes, the tail, and others. This activity teaches children how to communicate, share and cooperate with others in the class. Also, they will have the ability to define the shapes and here there is a development of manual skills.

In general, this activity important for teachers because It helps teachers to manage children depend on themselves. And It helps teachers in math to help children know different shapes pattern. In science to show the environment of the fish. Finally, it helps children to learn literacy through writing names and letters.
To conclude with centers, art center was learning by doing, through that activity their skills will develop, cognitive, collaborative. John Dewey believed the students can learn by doing (Elkan, 2013).
The difficulties I had is I couldn’t assess students enough because when I left focus group they start talking and disturb other students, and KG1 needs more time to learn and assessing them, Ms. Arabic agree with me that the time is not enough for us.
In the future, I will organize my time to make better assessment for students. As well as extend activities and I will keep the students busy. And every time I will model the activities more creative and exciting so the students be confident while they work, also According to Bandura “Most human behavior is learned observationally through modeling: from observing others, one forms an idea of how new behaviors are performed, and on later occasions this coded information serves as a guide for action.” (Bandura, 1925)
