Utilize more pictures, auditory and kinesthetic learning strategies
Planning for learning
During all literacy lessons and 1 science lesson, I will use visual aids for example, g) graphic organizer, charts, songs and TPR (total physical response) strategies to help reinforce the learning outcome.
Done twice during the week for literacy lessons, once weekly for science lessons.
Utilize more pictures, auditory and kinesthetic learning strategies
Visual aids and concrete materials relate to the lesson, appropriate song for their age and the lesson, key vocabulary for learning outcome to taught.
In fact, the start of the lesson, there was no focus on the value of using visual aids or even taking care of the value and the importance of using Kinesthetic methods through enabling students to practice that but that all was modified when I tried to use the seasons, in my teaching that was done through the use a song about the seasons called,” what's your favorite season“ by Dream English. Next I brought in visual aids, such as green leaves, a jacket, t-shirt, and a learning video about seasons. Then I practiced using the items with students and then give them the items and ask them. For example, I asked them what can we wear on the winter? they said a jacket and I asked them again why? they said in Arabic because it's cold. On using visual aids, students learn better and here most theories focused on the value of using visual aids where here Vygotsky focused on children’s learn through play , he also gave other interests including ,students learn through activity, and here both activities and here children’s play, they learn better (Mishra, 2013)
There is great learning styles that ought to be used in my profession and that for my professional Developing plan and here that includes in my goals concerning the importance of using pictures , auditory and kinesthetic learning strategies as through that there is a support for my performance with students as in case of doing that , students will master all what is introduced to them.
More theorists focused on the use of pictures, auditory means and kinesthetic learning strategies in teaching as through these strategies, there is a great support to students learning and even in case of teachers use those strategies, their lesson will be effective and have the ability to teach perfectly. One of those is Vygotsky who focused on how people leran in the social context in his theory of learning in social context. And here children learn better from each other. According to Vygotsky, the role of teachers is to construct active learning communities. (Lev Vygotsky and Social Learning Theories , 2018)
Vygotsky suggested that,” learning takes place through the interactions students have with their peers, teachers, and other experts “ (Lev Vygotsky and Social Learning Theories , 2018) and saw that teachers can create a learning environment that enable students to move and deal with their surroundings and students’ abilities to interact with others through discussion, collaboration, and feedback. Exactly as Vygotsky mentioned,” We learn through this cultural lens by interacting with others and following the rules, skills, and abilities shaped by our culture.” (Lev Vygotsky and Social Learning Theories , 2018)
Jean Piaget focused on the importance of cognitive development in the classroom and saw every interaction and development has its impact on students learning in the classroom .He suggested six steps of them was ,” Use concrete props and visual aids whenever possible.and 5. Give children a great deal of hands-on practice with the skills that serve as building blocks for more complex skills like reading comprehension.” (Piaget, n.d.) that shows the importance of visual and kinesthetic methods in teaching.
